Are you looking for a tool for making atoms and molecules a more exciting and understandable subject to teach? Do you need good science material on the Internet for your teaching? Would you like to see your pupils work with pupils in the rest of Europe? Do you think the combination of playing and learning can bear fruit?
Then this is the Internet site you and your pupils have been looking for!
Molecool developed by the Norwegian Board of Education (Læringssenteret), is an Internet-based multiple-user game of chemistry combined with more traditional natural science resources. By profiting on the pupils knowledge of computer games, we wish to stimulate their interest in the sciences and create favorable conditions for learning amongst young people. In the game, facts and features are combined with the names of chemical substances, formulas and three-dimensional visualization. This website aims to support the game by offering useful information directly connected to the internet game, in addition to material of more general scientific and technological interest.
We are currently working on tailor-made content packages adjusted to specific curricular topics at tenth grade and high school. New material will be published during the coming months and we hope both the game and the Molecool website will be an exciting and interesting means of working with chemistry.
Molecool is primarily the result of the cooperation between the National Center of Educational Resources (NLS) and FunCom though the other Nordic countries have also participated. The last version of the game is the cooperation between The Norwegian Board of Education (LS) and FunCom as well as the Ministries of Education in Denmark and Portugal.
