Sarepta
Sarepta is a website based on satellite pictures from Northern Europe over the last fourteen days. These pictures are used to illustrate different environment topics like: Weather studies and forecasts, flood warnings, sea temperatures, ice, oil spills and maritime traffic. The satellite pictures can be closely studied using image-processing programs.
The Norwegian Environmental Education Network
This is a network that works as a meeting ground for students, teachers, environmental authorities, research institutions and voluntary organizations. The institutions offer professional support and ideas to the teachers on how to organize the environmental education.
State of the Environment Norway
The current state of the biological diversity, cultural heritage, water, waste, climate, polar regions etc. The editor of this comprehensive site is the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority, a directorate under the Ministry of the Environment.
Grid-Arendal
As a specific follow-up to the recommendations of the 1987 World Commission on Environment and Development, the Government of Norway and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) established an environmental information center in Arendal, Norway. Set up as a foundation under Norwegian legislation, the center was linked to the worldwide UNEP program termed Global Resource Information Database and was therefore called a GRID center. GRID-Arendal was declared opened by the Norwegian Prime Minister on August 22, 1989.
