LearnNet, Royal
Society of Chemistry
LearnNet is a new network designed for the use of teachers and students
of chemistry - at all levels. The network aims to provide access to products
and information relevant to the study of chemistry. This site has been classified
by experts in the teaching of chemistry, to ensure that the best interests
of the users have been attended to at all times.
Creative chemistry
Whether you are a teacher, doing chemistry at school, or are simply just
interested in chemistry, Creative Chemistry has lots for you. There are full-colour
worksheets and teaching notes for fun activities suitable for a chemistry
club, and around two hundred pages of question sheets and practical guides
for GCSE Chemistry (ages 14-16) and AS Level Chemistry (ages 16-18). You willalso
find fun chemistry puzzles, interactive revision quizzes, molecular models,
and the Sc1 Tune-up Garage to help improve your GCSE science investigations.
IUPAC
nomenclature recommendations
This web site is intended primarily to provide information on IUPAC nomenclature
recommendations. The full text version of documents will be converted into
a web readable form that may also involve some reorganization to facilitate
presentation. The author has been primarily involved in the preparation of
organic and biochemical material, thus most work will be in that field. Other
material will be provided as it becomes available, either from this site or
by links to other locations.
Polymer
Welcome to the Macrogalleria, the Internet mall where netsurfers can learn
all kinds of nifty stuff about polymers and polymer science! The first thing
we have to get out of the way is to explain just what a polymer is. A polymer
is a large molecule, often formed from many thousands of small molecules
joined together chemically to form one giant macromolecule. While the terms
macromolecule and polymer are used synonymously, you will see the word polymer
used more often. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. You may at this point
be asking, "What has all this got to do with me?" Lots, as you'll find out
if you go to this cyberwonderland of polymer fun!
The annual CEFIC
award
This annual Award, created by the European Chemical Industry Council, CEFIC,
and its National Federation Members, recognizes excellence in science education
achieved by a teacher and a secondary school class of pupils. The Award is
organized around three age group categories between 12 and 18 years.
